IBC Glossary

IBC container – IBC stands for intermediate bulk container and is a reusable industrial container designed for the transport or storage of bulk liquid and granulate substances (e.g. food ingredients, solvents, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, lubricants, brewing etc.). IBCs are stackable containers on a pallet so they can easily be moved using a forklift or a pallet jack. It’s an ‘intermediate’ tank because the volume range is between that of a drum and a tank. The most common size is 1,040 litres which is however called a 1000ltr IBC. The cube shape makes is much more economical to store then for example drums. They are also called IBC totes or IBC pallet tanks.
